Sure Alan's Psychadelic Breakfast is a bit strange and im really not sure about it but the rest of the album is amazing IN MY OPINION, that I really couldn't care less. Summer '68, another absolutely fantastic song! Which although I rate it lower on the album, I still thoroughly enjoy how it differs musically due to Ricks own musical persona which I feel comes out in this song.įat Old Sun is one of my all time favourites, The church bells, instantly place you in sunny british countryside where theres nothing but tranquility and nature, everything works so perfectly, it's literrally impossible to listen without a grin on your face and then one of Gilmour's greatest solos, which entrances you as you move with the notes as they dance accross his fretboard.Magical, Mesmerising and Momentous. Then there's "If", a cloud of sound that massages you into a trance as you float with the music that is lulling you into an ultimate state of relaxation. Now this doesn't seem to add up to me because I feel like the Suite on Side 1 is an absolute masterpiece, an epic saga that portrays extreme power and beauty. David Gilmour has explicitly stated that he thinks AHM was "A load of rubbish." That they were "Scraping the barrel a bit at that period" and that it was "A good idea but it was dreadful".
